In your own words, tell us a little bit about your role as a Video Production Specialist here at CobbleStone Software.

Evan: My role is to generate public interest by providing a mix of well-written and informative videos describing pain points our product can relieve and use cases users may not know about. I relay contract management thought leadership, product features, and best practices to an audience that may be more receptive to video content or users who feel more comfortable sharing a short video. On top of that, I handle multiple other videocentric responsibilities, including creating social posts for our video content and editing the webinars we host and distribute.

What qualities do you feel are important to be a successful CLM Video Production Specialist?

Evan: It is important to stay up to date with both visual trends and the ways viewers intake media. You can make the best commercial in the world, but if a majority of your user base only intakes commercials through short-form media or via in-depth demo-style videos, then the time spent on the commercial itself will have been wasted. This, combined with the ability to represent your company’s core values visually, will allow you to get through to your audience and become more engaged with your product or service. To supplement these video production best practices for our audience, I also stay abreast of the latest trends and developments in the CLM space.

What is your favorite part about being a Video Production Specialist?

Evan: I love the freedom to experiment and grow my video skills; I’ve recently improved my motion graphics and animation skills to increase engagement and viewer retention in our videos. This has led to our more recent videos developing a visual identity our audience is able to identify and return to, as well as accomplishing our metrics and goals, such as recently surpassing our YouTube subscriber goal.

How do you stay up to date with CLM industry trends and technological advancements in contract management?

Evan: Together as a marketing team, we conduct comprehensive research dedicated to analyzing the growth and trajectory of the CLM industry. To be proactive, I take time to research what other companies are doing, how new technologies like generative AI are affecting the industry, and where we fall in industry-wide awards like QKS's SPARK MatrixTM report, in which we were listed as a Leader for the third year in a row.

What are some notable moments in your career as the Video Production Specialist at CobbleStone Software?

Evan: Anytime I get to do live-action shoots is a high point. Setting up a room for production where I manage lighting rigs, audio, and camera angles is a joy. I do this largely while recording in-person demonstrations of our software so that you can see someone from our team and gain a sense of familiarity with us.

What advice would you give someone just starting their career in video production for contract management software?

Evan: I would suggest looking into SEO and the way algorithms work for your specific social media. YouTube is constantly changing what it prefers and how it quantifies interest from its viewers. It’s gone from pure view count to time watched, video retention, and engagement. The only way to plan for this and direct your videos in ways that will get you the most return on your investment is to stay up-to-date and research constantly.
